Overview
The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) operates under the command of Sgt. Brody Weinmann, by direction of the Office of the Chief of Police.
CID is responsible for follow-up investigations, major case support, evidence handling, and investigative services that support public safety in Teague.
Sergeant Brody Weinmann Bio
Background and service
Sergeant Brody Weinmann joined the Teague Police Department in August 2025. He is a graduate of the Navarro College Police Academy and has served as a peace officer in and around Freestone County since 2014.
Education and certifications
He holds a Master Peace Officer license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) and an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Navarro College. His specialized training and certifications include Sexual Assault/Family Violence Investigator, Interdiction for Protection of Children, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) training, and instructor certifications for Firearms, Taser, and Less Lethal systems. He is also trained as a SWAT member and Intoxilyzer operator.
Career focus
After several years in patrol, Sergeant Weinmann transitioned into Training and Investigations with a focus on Crimes Against Children and ICAC. He has completed numerous continuing education courses to support complex investigations and victim‑centered responses.
Prior public service and personal note
Before law enforcement, Sergeant Weinmann served in the fire service, emergency medicine, and corrections, beginning his public service career at age 18. He is devoted to his family, focused on protecting the citizens of Teague, and dedicated to supporting his fellow officers.
Responsibilities and Operations
Primary duties
CID investigators conduct follow‑up and, when appropriate, primary investigations of crimes against persons and property. They work closely with patrol officers, who refer cases needing additional investigative resources, and they also initiate investigations when crimes are discovered.
Forensics and evidence
CID is responsible for forensic crime scene processing and for the secure handling, processing, and storage of evidence and property. Investigators document scenes, collect and preserve evidence, and coordinate with forensic partners as needed.
Investigative work
Typical investigative tasks include interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects; reviewing physical and digital evidence; preparing investigative reports; and coordinating with prosecutors. CID investigators apply specialized training and investigative techniques to reconstruct events and identify responsible parties.
