Chief Philpott has an abundance of training hours with the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement (TCOLE). This training includes basic patrol procedures, investigations, instructor development, and supervisory training. He is an experienced criminal investigator, patrol officer, has experience in leadership, and has experience with SWAT operations and tactics. He is certified and experienced law enforcement Instructor – specializing in firearms, taser, standardized field sobriety testing, and general law enforcement topics. He has completed several National Incident Management System (NIMS), through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), training courses. He completed a master’s degree (Master of Arts in Criminal Justice) from Midwestern State University in December 2019. He currently holds a Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement (TCOLE), along with several others. Chief Philpott has been in the law enforcement career field since 1995. His experience, passion, and forward thinking gives him a unique perspective as Chief of Police and is of invaluable service to our great community. He has been in law enforcement administration since joining the Teague Police Department in 2015, along with one previous agency as a Lieutenant. He also has an array of military leadership experience from his service in the United Sates Navy, where he served as a Hospital Corpsman, and experience as a Command Sergeant Major for the Texas State Guard. He has a mixture of skills and knowledge of law enforcement principles and practices, which he endeavors to employ and teach to his staff.
