About the Teague Police Department

The Teague Police Department is established by state law and local ordinance to serve and protect our community. Since its inception, the department has evolved to meet the changing needs of Teague’s residents while maintaining a strong commitment to public safety and community-oriented policing.

Our Team

To serve an estimated population of approximately 3,500 citizens, the Teague Police Department is staffed with:

  • 7 Peace Officers: Chief of Police, 1 Lieutenant, 1 Sergeant, and 4 Officers
  • 2 Civilian Employees: Supporting administrative and operational functions

We also maintain a Reserve Officer Program, which utilizes dedicated volunteers from our community to help achieve our public safety goals.

Leadership

The Chief of Police, appointed by the Board of Aldermen, serves as the department’s chief executive. The Chief appoints police officers who enforce the laws of the United States, the State of Texas, and local ordinances. Our jurisdiction covers the incorporated city limits of Teague, with authority extending beyond city limits in cases such as:

  • Pursuit of offenders fleeing from within city limits
  • Assisting other agencies upon request
  • Situations authorized by Texas statutes

Administrative Support

Our Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in supporting daily operations for both the Police Department and the Municipal Court. This position handles clerical and administrative tasks, assists with court operations, coordinates programs and projects, and serves as a key point of contact for the public.

Additional Services

The Teague Police Department also oversees:

Code Enforcement: Ensuring compliance with city ordinances related to property maintenance, zoning, and public nuisances to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Animal Control: Responding to reports of stray or dangerous animals, enforcing pet-related ordinances, and promoting responsible pet ownership.
