Impoundment Procedures

For certain violations, City Ordinances require impoundment.

  • Where: Impounded animals are taken to Adkins Veterinary Clinic (Fairfield, TX) while Teague has no shelter facilities.
  • Fees: First visit City Hall to pay the impoundment fee, then reclaim your pet from Adkins Veterinary Clinic. The clinic may also charge boarding/care fees.
  • Vaccinations: You must show proof of current rabies vaccination before release (required by City Ordinance and state law).

You may also receive a citation, depending on the violation and circumstances.

Citations are handled through Teague Municipal Court.

Surrenders

We do not take owner surrenders (except in extreme cases) because Teague has no shelter or adoption services.
Please contact local rescue/adoption groups in the surrounding area for rehoming assistance.
